After launching CarePlus in August, Chewy is expanding that program through a partnership with insurance company Lemonade.
Through the partnership, Chewy is offering its CarePlus members access to customizable plans from Lemonade Pet. The companies expect the plans to be available in spring 2023 through Chewy’s website.
CarePlus members can use Lemonade’s mobile app to file claims, access policy coverage, track billing and receive payments.
The partnership builds on Chewy’s growing health offerings, which also includes its Connect with a Vet telehealth service, pharmacy service and Practice Hub, a veterinarian-only marketplace aimed at growing clinic revenue and streamlining pharmacy operations. The two companies also said unused premiums will go toward animal-focused charities.
“Chewy launched CarePlus to help make pet healthcare more affordable and accessible. Finances are a main barrier when it comes to pet health, and we don’t want pet parents to choose between their pets’ health and their financial well-being,” Mita Malhotra, vice president and head of Chewy Health, said in a statement. “We are proud to partner with Lemonade to broaden our offering and meet more pet parents’ needs. Together, we share a deep commitment to innovation and delivering a customer-centric, digital experience to make insurance simple for everyone.”
