-
He will remain on several of the company’s boards and will be available to help with the transition once his successor is named, the company said.
Dive Insight:
EBay has seen some high-profile departures this year. VP of merchant development Michael Jones just left for coupon site RetailMeNot, PayPal president David Marcus left for Facebook, and another PayPal executive was fired after sending out a series of offensive late-night tweets.
The company also announced a major data hack of client identity information in May, which occurred between late February and early March. Carges has been at eBay for five years. With his departure unplanned, it’s not clear who could replace him. Steve Fisher, previously at Salesforce.com, will be taking over the CTO and senior vice president positions at the company's marketplaces unit.
