Dive Insight:
The addition of SkinSpirit is part of Nordstrom’s efforts to provide “innovative beauty and wellness experiences” to its customers, the company said. Alongside the skin care clinic, Nordstrom’s New York City flagship store also offers hair care services from Drybar, manicure services from Londontown, skin sculpting services from Face Gym and eyebrow services from Anastasia Beverly Hills.
Nordstrom, which opened its New York City flagship in 2019, recently highlighted the location in a campaign. The department store chain tapped notable New Yorkers, including filmmaker Spike Lee, model Carlisle Aikens and actors Amy Sedaris and John Turturro, for “Nordstrom for Everything New York.” The campaign aims to promote services it offers at the flagship, including on-site beauty experiences, alterations, styling and food options.
Nordstrom also expanded its luxury offerings outside of the city by making a key hire to bolster its styling services. Personal stylist Catherine Bloom in Februrary became the company’s director of luxury styling. She was formerly a stylist at Neiman Marcus and built a lineup of clientele that included athletes, celebrities and executives. The department store is transforming its Nordstrom Local location on Melrose Place in Los Angeles into a dedicated storefront for Bloom and her clients.
Nordstrom this week reported a robust holiday quarter. The company is preparing to go private later this year.
