Dive Brief:
-
RadioShack Corp.’s executive vice president for store operations, Troy H. Risch, has resigned for undisclosed reasons, besides a wish to “pursue other interests,” the company revealed Tuesday.
-
There is no immediate replacement for Risch, whose departure is effective immediately.
-
The struggling electronics retailer is in the midst of a turnaround that entails closing many of its stores.
Dive Insight:
Troy Risch’s departure comes as something of a surprise, considering that RadioShack is deep into a turnaround that involves closing many of its stores and beefing up those that remain. Although the electronics retailer is shuttering more stores than it originally planned, it is also opening concept stores that reflect its new approach.
Even with all the closures, the troubled retailer still remains quite a physical presence on the country’s retail landscape, operating more stores than Best Buy and close to as many as Wal-Mart Stores Inc. It’s hard to know what impact Risch’s leaving will have on the company’s plans, if any.
