REI Co-op has named Jackie Major as its vice president of merchandise planning and inventory management. She joined the company on Sept. 1.
Major will lead the company’s merchandising team and oversee its planning and inventory management, and sales and operations strategy.
“Jackie is a critical addition to the integrated value chain leadership bringing fantastic retail experience and business savvy to the co-op,” Sylvia Wilks, REI’s chief supply chain officer, said in a statement. “She will engage the team in modernizing processes using the best technology platforms to completely transform REI's approach to merchandise planning and inventory management.”
Major was with Levi Strauss & Co for over 15 years, most recently as senior vice president of merchandise planning and inventory management. Prior to her time at Levi’s she worked in planning and allocation at Gap Inc., according to her LinkedIn profile.
REI has been growing its operations. This summer, the retailer announced the launch of a new location of its used gear concept store, Re/Supply, in Clackamas, Oregon. It is also opening a Co-op location in Laguna Hills, California, on Friday, following the opening of a store in Marina del Rey, California, last week. The company also announced its intent to open stores in Beaverton, Oregon; Durango, Colorado; Prescott, Arizona, and Sarasota, Florida, among other locations.
