It's Friday, and Retail Therapy is back to bring you J.C. Penney’s fierce defense of Beyonce’s baby announcement and the exploits of "the hygiene heister," a shoplifter apparently obsessed with cleanliness.
This, and more, in this week’s Retail Therapy.
J.C. Penney's flawless defense of Beyonce's photoshoot
This week, Beyonce dropped something better than a new album: an announcement that she’ll be adding twins to her power family. Queen B broke the news with a photo on Instagram of her wearing underwear and a veil, holding her baby bump in front of a blue sky backdrop and a wreath of colorful, albeit plastic flowers.
As fans turned to the internet to buzz about the baby news, many criticized the singer for her tacky photoshoot set-up — going as far as to compare it to the awkward family photos taken at J.C. Penney photo studios. You know, the ones with only two solid color backdrops and a box full of props?
J.C Penney refuted the criticism in the best way possible — with Beyonce lyrics. The department store retailer tweeted at critics with phrases like “flawless" and “twirl on my haters." And at least for a moment, Beyonce fans became J.C. Penney fans.

Roll me up a piece of that Kit Kat bar
Last year on April 1st, Kit Kat Japan “unveiled” a quirky dessert sushi concept using Kit Kat bars instead of fish. Alas, it was nothing more than an April Fool’s Day joke, but it apparently upset many cult Kit Kat followers.
The joke is now over: The new product will premiere at a series of pop-ups in Tokyo at specialty Kit Kat stores, department stores and underground shopping areas between Feb. 2 and Feb. 4, according to The AU Review. Each sushi set includes a tuna roll (a raspberry Kit Kat bar on crispy puffed rice and white chocolate), an egg roll (a pumpkin pudding-flavored Kit Kat on crispy puffed rice and white chocolate wrapped in seaweed) and an Uni roll (Hokkaido melon and marscarpone cheese Kit Kat wrapped in seaweed).
The limited-edition novelty products retail for around 3,000 Yen, or just under $30.
Target employee's dance moves hit the bullseye
An Iowa Target employee named Chase Carlson found fifteen minutes of viral internet fame this week after posting a video to his Facebook page of him dancing at work. Carlson's dance moves garnered over 3.3 million views as of press time, and a producer of CBS's show "Survivor" reached out to him about being on the show, The Des Moines Register reports.
He unfortunately declined. I guess dance moves don't come in handy as a useful survival skill.
Something doesn't smell right at CVS
A Florida man has earned the nickname "the hygiene heister" after stealing nearly $400 worth of deodorant and body wash from a CVS Pharmacy. The man, who was caught on camera stuffing the products into a duffel bag and fleeing the scene, is still at large. Police worry he is armed with some seriously bad body odor.
