Dive Insight:
UPS, like many retailers, is responding to consumers’ increasing demand for in-store pickup for online orders. For many urban people, going to a UPS outlet may be even more convenient than going to a retail location. For retailers, the service could also help speed up omni-channel fulfillment improvements. The shipper also has an advantage because of its European operations following a similar model. The retail shipping game continues to be one of a multitude of services aimed at pleasing consumers and getting their packages to them as quickly and conveniently as possible.
