Nearly half — 49% — of Hispanic shoppers in the U.S. are saving their holiday shopping for Black Friday, according to a study of 1,417 Hispanic consumers by retail analytics firm Brand Keys.

Each Hispanic shopper in the U.S. spends $985 on average — 7% more than shoppers in the wider population last year and 15% than the year before.

88% of Hispanics said they’ll shop at department stores, 10% more than the American population as a whole, and 63% will shop at apparel and specialty stores, 23% than the wider population. 90% say they’ll shop at discount retailers, 6% less than the wider population.

Hispanic shoppers are, generally speaking, a powerful, upwardly mobile, low-debt and brand-savvy consumer group. It behooves retailers to cater to them at the holidays; they’re poised to start spending soon.
