Amazon said this week it now has over 200 million paid Prime members in 24 countries. Last year, it said U.S. Prime members bought “hundreds of millions of items” during the fall sale. Amazon said the event was its largest ever October sales event, although the company didn’t provide specific sales figures.
Amazon said it currently offers over 300 million items with free Prime shipping in the U.S., with same day or one day delivery available for “tens of millions” of products. For this year’s Prime Big Deal Days, the retailer said it’s offering deals across over 35 product categories.
In toys, the company said it’ll offer deals on Barbie, Squishmallows, Play-Doh, and Disney. Beauty and fashion brands deals will be on offer on Clinique, Too Faced, Florence by Mills and Cider. And in electronics, the retailer is highlighting sales on Beats, Samsung, and Fujifilm products.
The retailer is also promoting early Big Deal Days sales on premium home décor brands like NEST New York, Lenox and Lodge. Additional early deals can be found of up to 55% off on some Amazon devices, including the Blink Outdoor 4 camera system, a 40-inch Fire TV 2-Series and Luna gaming controllers.
In its Tuesday announcement, Amazon also highlighted early deals from small businesses that are Black, women, or military family-owned brands. The company said Tuesday that 60% of its sales are from independent sellers.
As with past sales events, Alexa users can set deal notifications and reminders. Amazon also touted Rufus, its generative AI-powered shopping assistant, as a way to answer shopping-related questions and to discover personalized products.
“Exclusive savings events like Prime Big Deal Days combined with unlimited fast, free delivery of 300+ million products across more than 35 categories year-round put Prime in a class of its own and make membership a better value than ever before,” Jamil Ghani, vice president of Prime Worldwide, said in a statement.
A regular Prime membership is $139 annually. Amazon also offers some free trial memberships for eligible individuals. Discounted memberships are available for young adults and college students, and people who qualify for government assistance.
